Answers about Uruguide and how we think about Uruguay. For step-by-step relocation topics (residency, costs, healthcare), see our guides and the Move to Uruguay overview.

What is Uruguide?

Uruguide is the Uruguay hub — a curated directory of places and services, refined guides, and (when membership opens) a community for people who want a high-quality view of the country. We cover Montevideo, Colonia, Punta del Este, and more cities over time.

Who is Uruguide for?

We are built for expats, business owners, remote workers, and visitors who care about quality — especially people considering a longer stay or a seasonal base on the coast. Uruguay is not the cheapest country in the region; we speak to readers who value stability, safety, and a refined experience.

What is in the directory?

A ranked index of businesses, products, and services across categories (restaurants, stays, coworking, wine, wellness, culture, and more). Listings show an Uruguide score (0–100), practical details, and editorial rank within each category and city. The directory is public so you can explore freely; some depth may move behind membership later.

What are guides and Move Here?

Guides are researched articles on living and doing business in Uruguay (residency, costs, neighborhoods, healthcare, banking, and related topics). Move Here is a short on-ramp that links into those guides as we publish them. Deeper, life-changing detail belongs in guides and member content — not in this FAQ.

What is the community?

A paid membership (lifetime access planned) for premium guides, community features, and fuller business pages. There is no free newsletter. When membership opens, you will join from the home page with your email and pay via Stripe — checkout is not live yet.

What is Uruguay — in one line?

A small, stable country between Argentina and Brazil: strong institutions, a large middle class, Spanish-speaking daily life, good private healthcare, and a coast that draws visitors and part-year residents alike.

What is Uruguay not?

  • Not the cheapest digital-nomad shortcut in Latin America (though Punta del Este shines in summer).
  • Not a tax or legal self-service zone on this site — we will link vetted professionals when that program is ready.
  • Not a user-generated review farm — rankings and scores reflect Uruguide's editorial curation and our scoring model, which we refine over time.

How do listings get ranked?

We assign category rank (#1, #2, …) and an Uruguide score using our own criteria (including aggregated metrics where available). We control labels and order; businesses may partner with us in the future, but the product is always presented on our terms.

How do I suggest a listing or correct something?

Use the contact page — we welcome corrections, omissions, and directory suggestions.

How do I get full access?

Join our community from the home page. Membership is not open yet; we will announce pricing and benefits when launch is ready.
